Fractured Fairy Tales!

Fractured are very fun when you get to make them. You get to fracture stuff like the elves and the shoemaker. It's pretty easy if you understand the regular story and know how you want to fracture it. First, we had to pick a fairy tale we liked and then we had to brainstorm how we would change it. We had to change the setting, characters, events or perspective of the main character. We then had to look carefully at the original story and the words that repeated or the things that happened in it, so that are story would be good! We took a long time to write them and we finished this week! By: Python

Here are two of our class stories. We hope you like them! By: Grizzly Bear

The Three Little Hikers and the Big Bad Volcano
By: Tiger
Once upon a time, there lived three little hikers. The first hiker was small but loved hiking big mountains. The second hiker was curious about everything and the third hiker was great at reading a map. One day they were climbing a huge mountain in a forest in Northern California. When they got to the top of the mountain, they realized the mountain was no mountain. It was a volcano! The hikers ran down the mountain looking for anything they could use to build shelter. The first hiker found a pile of sticks for his house. After he was finished he took a nap because he was so tired. He was woken up by a loud noise. “Rumble, Tumble! The volcano has exploded!” The hiker got out of the house at the right time just before the lava came and melted the house down. He ran to his brother’s house. His brother had made a house of bricks. Once they were inside, they saw the lava was still flowing. It came down the mountain, “Rumble, Tumble! The volcano had exploded.” The lava began to melt their house. The two brothers screamed and ran out of the house to the third hiker’s house. It was made of ice! They all heard, “RUMBLE, TUMBLE! The Volcano had exploded again!” The lava started flowing even faster and the mountain started to crack. The hikers were very scared. The flowing lava got closer and closer. It almost had touched the house when it suddenly froze. The icehouse had stopped the flowing lava. They lived happily ever after, using the frozen lava as an awesome basketball court. People came from everywhere to play on it. They sold tickets and made lots of money. Just enough money to buy mountain bikes so they can ride down mountains after they hike up them. They plan to someday hike to the top of Mount Everest!

Little Blue Running Shorts
By: Leopard
Once upon a time, there was a girl, who lived with her mom in a giant sandcastle on the west side of the beach. Whenever the girl went out to run she wore bright blue running shorts that had dark blue stripes. So, everyone called her Little Blue Running Shorts. One day Little Blue Running Shorts’ mom asked her to take a basket of medicine to her grandma on the south side of the beach. “Grandma isn’t feeling well. I’m sure she will love to see you.” So, her mom drew a map, so she would not get lost. As she was leaving, her mom said, “Remember to watch out for the Giant Crab and stay on the path!” Little Blue Running Shorts skipped away and took the basket of medicine to her grandma’s. On the way she saw some beautiful seashells. She thought her grandma might like them so she picked them up and put them in her basket. She didn’t realize someone else was on the beach. It was the Big Giant Crab. “Hello, little girl,” said a deep scratchy voice. “Where are you off to?” “I am off to my grandma’s house. She is sick,” said Little Blue Running Shorts. “Where does your grandma live?” asked the Crab. Little Blue Running Shorts said, “I just need to follow this path and it will take me right there!” With an evil laugh the Giant crab suggested she collect more seashells for her grandma and took off down the path. When the Giant Crab arrived at grandma’s he quickly gobbled her up. Then he climbed into her bed and put on her spare glasses and nightcap. When Little Blue Running Shorts arrived she looked at grandma and said, “Grandma, what big hands you have!” The Crab responded, “The better to hug you with.” Little Blue Running Shorts replied, “Grandma, what big eyes you have!” The Crab said, “The better to see you with!” Finally Little Blue Running Shorts said, “Grandma, What big teeth you have!” “The better to eat you with!” screamed the crab as he gobbled her up!  The Giant crab was so full that he fell asleep in grandma’s bed. Luckily for grandma and little blue running shorts, a very young teenage crab catcher came walking along. He knew grandma very well and knew that she would never leave her door open. He walked in and found the giant crab sleeping in the room. He noticed the big tummy and realized what happened! He used his sharp knife to cut the crab’s tummy open. Out jumped Grandma and Little Blue Running Shorts! They were so thankful that they gave the young crab catcher a huge hug. He and Little Blue Running Shorts became great friends and fell in love. He asked her to marry him, and she said, “Yes!” They all lived happily ever after!
