Christmas Perspective Writing

We did Santa and Rudolph perspective writing. Miss Crowley read us lots of books where a character changes their perspective like in Cinderella. We read it from the stepmother’s perspective. We also read Little Red Riding from the wolf’s perspective.

So we wrote either Santa or Rudolph perspective writing about the night that there was a blizzard and Rudolph had to save the day. And after we wrote we made Art. You made either Santa or Rudolph. I wrote about Rudolph so I made a picture of Rudolph. We hope you like them. By: Butterfly

Christmas Multiplication

We worked on multiplication with cheerios and m&m’s! Miss Crowley would tell us to make groups and we would make them with our cheerios and m&m’s. We learned that multiplication is making equal groups and then finding out the total number. It was awesome! We got to eat the m&m’s and cheerios after we made a lot of groups.

We also worked on Multiplication but instead of a worksheet, we practiced on Christmas lights. We used paint to make the bulbs. On the bulbs that is where we wrote our multiplication problems, starting with two times one. It was a really fun project and we learned a lot of problems in multiplication.

We learned about the Hopi, the Utes, the Shawnee, the Wampanoags, the Apache, the Navajo, and the Zuni. We read about them in books and then we wrote about them. We also created really awesome videos on our ipads with the app Videolicious. We hope you like watching our videos!

Stain Glass Nativity

We made stain glass nativity scenes and it was so fun. We got to take tissue paper and contact paper and decorate. They all look so pretty. By: Penguin

The first step was first we had to get one of those contact papers. Then, we peel off the paper it was attached to. Next, we put the contact paper on our desk. Then we put the black paper church. After that, we added tissue paper on it and finally we got another contact paper and sticked it. We loved it! By: Grizzly Bear

We are hanging them in the windows because when the light shines on them, it will look pretty. They were all really fun to do. By: Hamster

Christmas Trees

For Art we made Christmas trees. We decorated with snowflakes, sequins and stickers and glitter glue. It was really fun making the Christmas trees. We each had to have dark blue or light blue. We made a pattern on our cabinets, so that it looked really cool. By: Leopard

For the Christmas trees we learned how to make mini snowflakes. We folded paper and then we cut the paper with triangles or squiggly lines and when we unfolded it, it looked cool. We also decorated the Christmas tree with sequins and we put snow on the bottom of the tree. We had fun doing it.

Christmas Adjectives

This week we worked with adjectives. We all got an ornament and we decorated it with adjectives and then we colored it. Adjectives are words that describe things, people and places. They make our writing bigger and more interesting. Some of the adjectives I wrote on my ornament were "Big, Happy, Yellow and Hard." I liked working with adjectives! By: Butterfly

We decorated the ornaments with lots of adjectives. We put them on a tree on a bulletin board in the classroom and they look good! By: Kitten

Native American Project

This week we learned about different Native American tribes. Miss Crowley put us in groups and our group decided which native american tribe to learn about. We used a native american nonfiction book to find answers to questions about our tribe. Then we used stickers to show on a map where our Native American tribe lived. We are going to cut out pictures and glue them onto a piece of paper and present it in front of the class. My tribe is the Apache. They are really cool because they fiercest tribe in the southwest because they would steal stuff from other tribes and fight them. They rode and horses and wore scary face paint to scare the other tribes.

I can't wait to learn about the other tribes. By: Tiger

Outside mass

This week we had an outside mass. It was in our courtyard. We sat on the chairs from the classroom. It was awesome. We sang songs about Jesus and Father Joe was the priest. The alter cloth was a beautiful white cloth that we decorated with leaves. We painted them with water colors and wrote what we were thankful for. Father Joe talked about saying thank you to people that help every day. He said to say thank you to our parents. It was a great mass. I enjoyed it.

DON'T EAT TURKEY!!!

We read a book called, " A Turkey for Thanksgiving." Mr. Moose and Mrs. Moose wanted a turkey for thanksgiving. Mr. Moose goes looking for one. Then they find a turkey and the turkey thinks that they want to eat him. He starts running but he's too fat to run. So Mr. Moose says, "That's ok that you're too fat to fly." They take the turkey home and there is a surprise ending. They didn't want to eat the turkey. They just wanted him as a guest.

After the book we imagined what it would be like to be a turkey and somebody wanted to take us to Thanksgiving and eat us. So then Miss Crowley told us about persuading. She gave us strategies like trying to scare the reader, or trying to make them feel bad, or make it sound funny or fun, or using celebrities to convince the reader.

Then she gave us a paper and she said if you were a turkey how would you persuade the reader to not eat turkeys for thanksgiving. We each had to pick something that we wanted readers to eat instead. I chose ice cubes.

Check out some of the examples.

Saint's Play Practice!

Everybody so so brilliant when we were practicing the play. Everybody was paying attention and being respectful of the people talking. People were helpful and mostly quiet.

We have been practicing for our Saint's play. Each person is a Saint and they are going to dress up for the show. We had to memorize our lines. and if we did, we got a homework pass. We are so excited!

At the end of the show we are going to sing a song! Check out this cool picture of Saints!

ART Vistas

I enjoyed it!

Turkey Feathers

Check out our Turkey! It's hanging in the office hallway.

Saint Project

This week we finished working our Saints Project. All of us in the class did one. After we drew our Saints we had outline them in black sharpie. We learned how to do "see not think" drawing. Then we had to do the research about our Saint. We read an paper about them. We had to find important information like where he was born, or where he lived why he was a Saint. I worked on Saint Nicholas. I learned that his parents died when he was only 16 years old and that he could already read the bible by himself when he was five years old.

After we researched our Saints we had to write a paragraph about all of them. We had to include good punctuation and a topic sentence and a conclusion sentence.

We hung our Saint drawings and our paragraphs on the wall! It was very fun making the Saint's project.
